Let’s file this under, “May Require Long-term Analysis”. I am a child of the 1970s/1980s. This fact, in and of itself, did not cause major trauma. However, my father did not put great stock in home decor and when he (or, one of the eighty Step Monsters) did, their choices were not what I had in mind because there was no updating involved. By updating I mean the normal things, such as paint. There were, however, attempts to add to our 1960s disharmonious decor with furniture of the times, i.e., 1970s – 1980s. We have a little place in East Hampton. It’s a perfect house for the kids to play outside, to discover nature and to walk to the Bay to contemplate. The house needs refreshing and is in need of a new paint job, but it holds several experiences that will keep it close to my heart.
It makes a lady feel good to know that she’s living a life that does the least amount of damage to the planet. So there is that…but eco-friendly designs have stepped into the modern age and no longer are we forced to make a choice between sustainable goods and things that actually look good.
