Green Kitchen Stories is a Photographic and Healthy Recipe Haven
I collect images of food on our Pinterest Food Zen, Healthful Options and I’ll Eat That Boards.
I’m not certain that I will ever get a chance to make all of the recipes I have downloaded. And if I come across a recipe or image and I cannot source the original site, frustration ensues. I want to know how to make that Green Zucchini bread that our children will love, even if I doubt I’ll ever get the chance.
But recently on BohoMamma’s Fancy Food board, I happened upon an image of a salad and I traced that salad through three websites to find the original source.
And so glad I did because I came face to face with Green Kitchen Stories, a website that features ”Healthy, Vegetarian Recipes by David, Luise and Elsa”.
The cute factor alone – the fact that their daughter is included in this genius that is their food making – is enough to have me stalking this group via their Twitter and Facebook accounts.
But the photographs! Oh the photographs! And the photographs that show me step by step how it’s done. This may be due in part to the fact that the David of Green Kitchen Stories works as a magazine art director.
There will soon be a cookbook, based on their recipes. But for now there is also a Green Kitchen App ($2.99) available on the iPad.
Food love! One taps the app’s front page and is confronted with a pin board list of food and drink items. Click on the picture that captures your fancy and you’re off to making Tahni & PeanutButter Spelt Cookies with a 1-page recipe and ingredient page to follow. Each recipe comes with the health benefits of the food item, such as “Vegan”, “Gluten Free”, “Whole Grain”.
Our daughter was diagnosed at birth with allergies to eggs, nuts, tree nuts and on her most recent visit, gluten. Realizing that I cannot continue to remain in denial that her gluten-free pretzels are going to give her enough of the nutrients she needs, this site is a gift.
Really, I should write this little family a note and say, “thank you”. And if they come to my house and cook for us, I’ll give them a hug as well.
We’ve featured a photo of Green Kitchen Stories Recipe for Clementine Marmalade & Biscuits à la Roost and you can find their recipe here.
BohoMamma highly recommends the site and we love, love the app. (We even have glass iPad stand on our kitchen counter ready to go).
